Report Purpose

This report provides an aggregated view of grading patterns by teacher and course section, showing both counts and proportions of marks (A–F and other). It is designed to support analysis of grading distribution, course rigor, and student outcomes across selected school years, schools, marking periods, and mark types.

How to Use This Report

Set Parameters

Select school year(s), school(s), mark period(s), mark type(s), and teacher(s).

Review Results

Data is grouped by:

  • School

  • School Year

  • Teacher

  • Course

  • Mark Period

  • Mark Type

Analyze Grading Patterns

Use the report to:

  • Evaluate grade distributions by teacher and course

  • Identify grade inflation or deflation trends

  • Compare grading patterns across subject areas or course types

  • Examine differences between mark periods or mark types

Look for:

  • Courses with unusually high proportions of A or F grades

  • Significant variation in grading across similar courses

  • High proportions of “Other” marks (potential data quality or grading policy issues)

  • Differences in grading patterns between course rigor levels (AP, Honors, etc.)

Support Decision-Making

  • Assess alignment of grading practices across teachers or departments

  • Evaluate rigor in advanced coursework (AP, Honors, Dual Credit)

  • Inform professional learning or calibration discussions

  • Support academic program review and equity analysis

Notes

  • Only the most recent mark per student, course, mark period, and mark type is included

  • Marks are aggregated at the course section level, not student-level detail

  • Transcript-only marks are included; course metadata may be limited in those cases

  • “Other” marks include any grade values not matching A, B, C, D, or F

  • Proportions are calculated as decimals in the data source and rendered as percentages in the report

  • Results reflect current permissions and data available at the time of report execution
