Report Purpose

This report provides a student-level view of monthly (non-cumulative) tardy counts across a selected school year, with comparison to the previous school year.

Unlike the cumulative version, this report shows tardies that occurred within each individual month only, allowing users to analyze month-by-month fluctuations rather than running totals.

This is especially useful for identifying seasonal patterns, short-term spikes, or the impact of specific interventions.

Parameters

Required Parameters

School Year
Select the academic year for which you want to report tardy data.

Schools
Select one or more schools to include in the report.

Report Output

The report provides one row per student and includes tardy counts for each individual month, along with prior-year comparisons.

Student Information

School Year
The selected academic year.

Institution
The school in which the student is enrolled.

Student Name
Name of the student.

Student ID
Unique identifier for the student.

Grade Level
The student’s current grade level.

Student Demographics

  • Gender

  • Race/Ethnicity

  • English Learner indicators

  • Special program indicators (e.g., Special Education, 504, Title I, Migrant)

Monthly Tardy Columns

Each column represents the number of tardies that occurred during that specific month only (not cumulative).

Display Format

  • If prior-year data exists, values are shown as:
    Current Month Total (Difference from Prior Year Same Month)

    • Example: 3 (-1) means 3 tardies this month, 1 fewer than the same month last year

  • If no prior-year data exists:

    • Only the current year value is shown

Previous Year

Previous Year Total
Total tardies for the entire previous school year.

How to Use This Report

Set Parameters

  • Select the desired school year

  • Choose one or more schools

  • Optionally filter to specific students or groups

Review Student-Level Data

  • Each row represents a single student

  • Monthly columns reflect isolated monthly counts, not running totals

Look for:

  • Monthly spikes in tardiness (e.g., increases after breaks or holidays)

  • Seasonal patterns across the school year

  • Month-to-month variability rather than long-term accumulation

  • Year-over-year differences for the same calendar month

Identify Areas of Concern

Focus on:

  • Students with repeated high tardy counts in specific months

  • Sudden increases from one month to the next

  • Months where large numbers of students show elevated tardiness

Support Interventions

Use the report to:

  • Pinpoint when tardiness issues occur

  • Align interventions to specific time periods (e.g., post-holiday routines)

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of short-term attendance initiatives

Notes

  • Tardy counts include both daily attendance records marked as tardy/late and period-level tardies, with safeguards to prevent double counting

  • Monthly values reflect only the selected month, not cumulative totals

  • Data is based on school calendar enrollment days and respects each school’s calendar

  • Data is included up to the current date, not future calendar days

  • Prior-year comparisons align to the same calendar month

  • Only students enrolled in the selected schools and year are included

  • Results are filtered based on user permissions and data access rights
